I have been lurking on the site for quite some time, and have noticed a disturbing trend of people feeling the need to "compliment" models in not so polite ways, and give negative criticism to the photographer, and even worse, criticise the model for the technical aspects of a photo.

One day I hope people will learn that when a model or photographer posts a picture, it is not free license to insult or criticise negatively. I also dream of a world where people will see the photograph, and not just the subject (odd, i know, but there is much more to a photo than just what it's of). Where people will see and respect the artistic vision, and technique behind the photo, the emotion in the photo, and possibly even the circumstances that caused the photographer to have the vision, and thus caused the photo to be.

There are many ways also, for the shallow to compliment a model without using crude language and to make the model feel less objectified. For one to say "amazing figure and expressive eyes" for example is more polite and more acceptable. Even then, point behind most, if not all photos, is to express one's vision and one's self, not to fish for compliments on the obvious aspects of it.

This exact trend has caused a Deviant whom I watch and enjoy to close their account, and that irks me. One joins a community such as this to be in the company of like minded individuals who are often dificult to find in the real world, and also have a bit of anonymity in that people will see their work but never HAVE to meet face to face. When people who are not of a similar mindset about art go searching for are they don't like and then criticise, it is a problem. As for those who pay "compliments" that objectify the models, well if you want to treat women and men who happen to pose with no clothes on like meat, go to a porn site-that's what THEY are for.

I think that's all for this rant. I wanted to get it off my chest, and the people here are the only ones I know share at least some aspects of my opinion.
